Safe, Precise Removal of Benign Skin Lesions
At Umi clinic, we use CryoPen®, an advanced cryotherapy device that safely and accurately removes a wide range of benign skin lesions. CryoPen delivers a fine jet of nitrous oxide at extremely low temperatures, freezing unwanted tissue while minimising damage to the surrounding healthy skin.
The treatment is quick, minimally invasive and suitable for many common skin concerns, often with little or no downtime.
What Can CryoPen Treat?
CryoPen is suitable for treating many benign (non-cancerous) skin lesions, including:
- Skin tags
- Seborrhoeic keratoses (age spots)
- Cherry angiomas (red blood spots)
- Viral warts
- Verrucae
- Milia
- Pigmented age spots (where appropriate)
- Some benign moles (following clinical assessment)
- Sun spots
- Small benign keratin lesions
Every lesion is carefully assessed before treatment to ensure CryoPen is appropriate.
How Does CryoPen Work?
CryoPen uses precision cryotherapy to rapidly freeze abnormal skin cells. The freezing process destroys the unwanted tissue while preserving the surrounding healthy skin.
Following treatment, the lesion gradually dries, darkens or forms a small scab before naturally falling away over the following days or weeks. Healing times vary depending on the type, size and location of the lesion.
Most appointments take between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the number of lesions being treated. Many small lesions are successfully treated in a single session. Larger, thicker or more stubborn lesions, particularly viral warts and verrucae, may require two or more treatments spaced several weeks apart.
