Smooth skin, less shaving
Tired of shaving, waxing and dealing with unwanted hair or ingrown hairs?
Laser hair removal offers a longer-lasting solution by targeting the hair follicle with controlled pulses of laser energy. A course of treatments can significantly reduce hair growth, leaving skin smoother and easier to manage.
At Umi Clinic, we tailor your treatment to your individual skin type, hair growth and treatment area.
View FeesHow does laser hair removal work?
The laser targets pigment within the hair follicle, delivering controlled energy to heat and damage the follicle while leaving the surrounding skin protected.
Because hair follicles grow at different stages, several treatments are needed to target the follicles effectively. Most patients require around 8 treatments, although this varies depending on the individual, treatment area and hair type.
Following a course of treatment, up to 70–80% long-term hair reduction may be achieved, with occasional maintenance treatments helping to maintain your results.
What can we treat?
Laser hair removal can be used on many areas of the face and body, including:
- Upper lip
- Chin
- Face
- Underarms
- Arms
- Legs
- Bikini area
- Back
- Chest
- Other suitable areas
If you are unsure whether your chosen area is suitable, our team can advise you.
What happens during treatment?
Before your treatment, the area should be shaved, usually one to two days beforehand.
During your appointment, protective eyewear is provided and the laser is applied to the treatment area using a handheld device. You may feel a warm or snapping sensation as the laser pulses are delivered.
Treatment settings are adjusted according to your individual skin and hair characteristics.
For additional comfort, numbing cream can be used where appropriate.
After your treatment
There is no significant downtime following laser hair removal.
The treated area may appear slightly red or feel sensitive afterwards, similar to mild sunburn. This usually settles within a few days.
You should avoid unnecessary sun exposure following treatment and protect the treated area with a high-factor SPF.
